My daughter and I had the pleasure of sharing a meal at Chef JJ Johnson's Fieldtrip location in Rockefeller center. The rice bowls are visually stunning with color and texture and a taste to match. Don't skimp on the appetizers - crab pockets, nana's bread and plantains are delish! We recommend mixing the pineapple ginger lemonade with sorrel juice for a ZING! We were greeted warmly by the staff as soon as we stepped inside and the service from start to finish was SUPER FRIENDLY! When I asked to purchase Chef JJ's books, the lady who took our order let us know he was in the building and we could pick up signed copies later in the day. It was a great FIELDTRIP experience! Hope to visit the Harlem location next time.
We were in NYC for our Wedding Anniversary and we went to the Rockefeller Center looking for a place to eat lunch. We passed by this place and decided to eat there. Sooooooo glad we freaking did!!! The selection of food they have is wonderful! Delicious and authentic!!!! I recommend the salmon and braised beef bowl, crispy fish, roast chicken. The Banana Dessert (Itbwas so good I forgot the actual name of the menu) but everything is delicious!!! Omg! And their delicious refreshing House drinks too, Passion Thyme Tea and Sorrel, strawberry Lemonade. The price is very very reasonable and affordable. In addition, The staff are accommodating, super duper extra nice, very warm and welcoming to customers!!! When we said it's our anniversary they let us try their Sweet Plantains (that was a bomb!), and their Yucca Chips. We came back before our trip is over to try different menus and ordered food take to the airport for us to eat at a later time before our flight. Overall an amazing experience! Wr wish they have a branch here in California, specifically in L.A :) I also heard alot of awesome and good stuff about the owner Chef JJ. I purchased his recipe book and they are so nice to have him sign it and will send it to me. I can't wait. I highly recommend this place! Inrarely post reviews, but this place deserves to be known by alot of people.
My coworker and I stumbled upon Fieldtrip during a trip to the city while trying to get a quick lunch. The service, atmosphere and food are excellent!! We loved it so much that decided to come back the next day. You can tell the food is fresh, flavorful and just so delicious! I loved the falafel and my coworker really liked the jerk meatballs. Oh and definitely give the ginger pineapple lemonade a try! Wish we had a store in DC!!
My first time visiting. I had the crispy fish and collard green rice bowl. The fusion was scrumptious. I cannot wait to try the other bowls.
All the way from the UK. Looking for an affordable delicious meal and Fieldtrip was the right place. Amazing food, fast service and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely visit again if I ever get the chance!! Dined in but can easily take away if you change your mind as the food came in lovely sustainable containers.
Flew to NYC from Manchester, England and visited fieldtrip twice and both times the food and services were amazing! The food is very filling and tastes so good! I’d definitely recommend coming here for lunch if your visiting NYC
Came here for lunch when I was employed and the food is really good. The flavors are not overpowering and very subtle but still tasty. Portion is really good as well. Service is great. And the drinks are good. Some seating space and decent price. I was happy they had sorrel and pineapple ginger drink, which I am familiar with. I really liked the fish. And the sauces.
I Can’t say enough about this little Gem! If you make it to Rockefeller Center it’s a must eat! Food is amazing! Service was fast friendly great trendy little spot! You will not be disappointed. Rice bowl withJerk turkey balls flavorful, filling and Just the right amount of Jerk! My husband had crispy fish rice bowl! Fish was amazing coating light and crispy! It is a black owned business that takes the ethnic mix of Harlem and turns it into a complementary fiesta for your taste buds! Don’t miss this spot!
